ASSOCIATION RELATIONSHIP IMAGES
The 30 images in this set are integral to the concepts of naming two items and relating an associative relation between them. For instance, the dog and the dog house, after having been chosen as an associative relationship, necessitates the students telling why he/she made the choice, and developing and recognizing the functions and positions of the two items with respect to each other.
The images may also be used to aid vocabulary development, as students can be asked to identify common objects. Associations may also be used to stimulate class or group discussion, as students discuss the items and their functions and/or potential use.
The images are intended to provide the teacher with a nucleus of examples for use in a teaching situation. The teacher should encourage the students to discuss additional items with associative relationships.
The images will initially present the student with an opportunity for language development exercises, such as describing the images and comparing them with other images in the series. The teacher should be prepared to discuss certain aspects of the pictures and, where necessary, appropriate new vocabulary should be introduced to the student.
